College Academic Calendar

The College will observe vacations as follows :
1. Vacation Schedule:
(a) Summer Vacations. 5.5.2012 to 1.7.2012 (58 days)
(b) Winter Vacations 10.12.2011 to 8.1.2012 (30 days)

 

2. Holidays:

The College will observe the holidays as may be prescribed by Panjab University in respect of teaching-depts. From time to time.


Educational Study Tour

Students of 3rd year classes are taken on educational excursion of two weeks during the course of their study to visit various places of artistic or historical importance and interest. Actual railway/bus fare upto 6400 kms is borne by the Government. Other expenses such as reservation, boarding/lodging etc. are incurred from caution money.
These tours form an integral part of the teaching programme and as such are compulsory for all students. Works executed on tours are taken into consideration for final examination/assessment. Exemption from such tour(s) and the refund of caution money is allowable with the approval of Principal in an exceptional case of extreme hardship arising out of serious illness or casualty beyond the control of student subject to production of authentic evidence. Unspent part of the caution money, if any, shall be refunded by the concerned Tour Party In charge to the students.

 

Short Study Tour of the students of B.F.A. 1st, 2nd and 4th year of all specializations shall be conducted subject to the academic requirement to be decided by the Principal and subject to the availability of funds. Actual railway/bus fare is to be met out of students’ fund. Boarding/lodging expenses etc. to be met from the caution money. Places of visit and tour programmes shall be decided by the Principal in consultation with the Chairman Advisory Council and the respective class teachers and notified in advance.

 

Examination

(a)   As per Panjab University Regulation No. 1.1, the annual examinations of B.F.A.
1st Year to 4th Year classes of all the courses, i.e., Applied Art, Painting,
Graphics (Printmaking) and Sculpture shall be conducted by the Panjab
University at the end of each scholastic year in the month of April or on such
dates as may be fixed by the Syndicate. In order to be eligible to take the
Examination, the student must obtain sessional marks not less than 50 per cent in
all practical subjects and attendance not less than 75 per cent of lectures in the
individual Subject/Tutorials Theory/Practical taken separately during the session
last attended and the attendance will be counted from the commencement of the
academicyear to the end of February. Examination fee shall be notified at the
time of submission of the Examination forms. No private candidate is allowed
to appear in any examination of this institution.

(b) Students are required to do their sessional work regularly and appear in
periodical tests. For eligibility to appear in the Annual Assessment/Examination
conducted by the College and the Panjab University respectively, a student has
to secure minimum of 50 per cent marks in Sessional Work in each practical
subject.


Scholarship
This institution awards merit scholarship and merit-cum-Means Scholarship to
the value of Rs. 65 and Rs. 100 P.M. respectively to the eligible students on the
following terms and conditions:

(a) Merit Scholarship: Merit Scholarship of the value of Rs. 65 per
month shall be awarded to the 2nd, 3rd & 4th Year students in each
specialization upto 5% of the sanctioned strength of each class,
subject to the minimum of one and shall be tenable for a period of not
exceeding twelve months. The Merit Scholarship shall be awarded
to the toppers of each class subject to securing 60% marks in the last
qualifying examination. The students of 1st year classes do not qualify
for the Merit Scholarship because they are to prove their merit in the
specialized course of studying the subsequent year.

(b) Merit-cum-Means Scholarships will be awarded to the deserving
candidate upto 10 percent to the sanctioned strength of each class and
will be tenable for a period of not exceeding 12 months. The students
eligible to apply for Merit-cum-Means Scholarship should have
obtained 60 percent marks in their previous examination. Income
of self/Parents should fall within the range of Rs. 9000 per annum
from all sources as per rules and regulations. First year classes do
not qualify for the Merit-cum-Means scholarships because they have
not yet proved their merit in the specialized course of study in the
subsequent year.

2. The scholarship holder shall have to execute an agreement bond before receiving
the payment

3. These scholarships are subject to availability of funds.

THE ORDERS OF THE PRINCIPAL IN RESPECT OF AWARD OF
SCHOLARSHIP(S) SHALL BE FINAL. FREE EDUCATION FOR
MERITORIOUS SCHEDULED CASTES/SCHEDULED TRIBES
AND OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES : AS PER CHANDIGARH
ADMINISTRATION SOCIAL WELFARE DEPARTMENT NOTIFICATION
DATED 11.12.1998 AND MEMO NO. RA/SWD/F.E/2008/4387-99 DATED
30.5.2008

Assistance as under shall be given to the students so selected under this Scheme:-
• A lumpsum annual allowance of Rs 2500/- payable in one installment in the start of the academic session.
• Full reimbursement of tuition fees upto a maximum of Rs 20,000/- p.a. and
other non-refundable charges payable to the institution.
• A monthly pocket allowance of Rs 250/- for day students.
• A monthly allowance of Rs 500/- for hostellers for at least two academic
session.

Eligibility Criteria:• He/She should belong to any caste declared as Scheduled Caste or Other Backward Class for the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

The total annual family income of parents shall not exceed Rs 2,50,000/-.

He/She should have passed +2 examinations in first attempt from any School/College
in UT Chandigarh with minimum of 50% marks and he/she should have studied in
UT, Chandigarh for at least two academic sessions.

• Parents of the student should be bonafide residents of UT, Chandigarh for the past
three years.

Procedure for Applying: The candidates should apply in the prescribed format with
supporting documents. Applications complete in all respects should be submitted
in the office of the Director Social Welfare, U.T. Chandigarh. For details, those
interested may contact Deptt. of Social Welfare, U.T., Sector-17, Chandigarh.

Mode of Payment: The payment of fees shall be made direct to the institution. If the
student makes the payment, the same shall be reimbursed on the submission of a valid
receipt. All payments shall be made by demand draft or cheque.

Withdrawal of benefit: If at any time after the payment is made to the student, it is
proved, after enquiry that the student has got the benefit by misrepresentation of facts
or submitting false documents, the benefit shall be discontinued forthwith and the
entire amount paid shall be recovered.

Benefit shall also be discontinued if the student fails in a particular year or his/
her performance is not found upto the mark by the Committee and the student
discontinues course of study.
