We at the college think of printmaking as a major means of expression within the fine art Diaspora of today. The term “printmaking” refers to techniques and processes of producing prints, when applied to original images created by artists such as engraving, lithography, serigraphy, woodcut and wood engraving etc. printmaking processes have been considered as central to the work and expression of many of the greatest artists. Especially in the last century the impact f print in all its manifestations in our society has been immense. The last decade has seen the definition of printmaking undergo a radical change. Keeping this heritage in mind the department instructs its students in all printmaking processes and at the same time encourages them to find their own niche in this fascinating form of creative expression.
Objective
The college has one of the best-equipped studios for print making or Graphics.
The course includes all intaglio techniques such as dry point etching engraving, photo etching and aquatint on copper and zinc plates.
An extensive Training in paleographic such as offset and direct method lithography relief printing processes such as wood-cut and Lino-cut are taught as well as silkscreen printing and Computer Graphics. An introduction to qualities of paper and printing inks is an integral part of course. Objective of the three-year Specialization Course in Graphics is to provide the student with training in the skills for original and creative visual expression. It is planned with the conviction that the technical competence provides the most satisfactory foundation of creative expression.
