City Beautiful

Chandigarh is, by its very essence to the forward march of humanity towards progress. It is the first planned modern city of independent India, a living example of a new idea that has been given shape to by human endeavor. Le Corbusier, the famous French architect and artist was the city’s town planner, he along with a team of brilliant young architects gave birth to the city beautiful, now its people bring it to life. Chandigarh-the capital of the two states of Punjab and Haryana, the largest and most daring experiments in modern urbanism has become the Mecca for architects and art lovers from allover the World. It is a city where one finds artistic inspiration at every nook and corner, be it in the splendid architecture of Corbusier the idealistically captivating beauty of Nek Chand’s Rock Garden or perhaps in one of the many gardens of the city. The college of art itself is situated right next to the Sculpture Valley which is adorned by the sculptures of artists such as Ram Kinker, Shiv Singh, Avtarjeet Dhanjal to name a few.

 

Location

The college is situated in Sector 10-C, the heart of the City, the campus has been beautifully designed as a composite as a Cultural Complex by Le-Corbusier; the building is surrounded by vast green lawns along side the leisure valley against the beautiful backdrop of Shivalik Hills. Adjacent to the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh famous for its collection of Gandhara sculpture and Pahari miniature painting and a city museum which showcases the development of chandigarh as an idea and the city. The distance to the institution is nearly 2 Kms from the Inter States Bus Terminal, 4 Kms from the Panjab University, Sector -14 and hardly 8 Kms. from the Railway Station, Chandigarh.
